“Those into deep electronica will love this in a heartbeat. Comes with a cold feel and a genuine sharpness that invites the audience to concentrate just a little harder. Again, mood wins out over an easy melody here, but the end results are always interesting.” - Real Gone

Minneapolis-based dark electronic artist KPT has unveiled a pair of atmospheric minimal techno tracks in a label-exclusive release, entitled Tramp.

Available exclusively through visionary label GIVE/TAKE by joining their mailing list, Tramp includes two previously "officially" unreleased singles from 2015 and 2016.

"Reconstruction," originally a CD-only bonus from KPT ALIVE BY MACHINES., finds the artist tapping into his inner-Angelo Badalamenti on a rather secretive and distant piece. Introspective organ, accompanied by a sole hi-hat and kick drum and precariously-fitting indecipherable vocal samples lead the listener into a solemn, yet hopeful place.

"Abandon" ups the tempo, while abandoning driving kick drums in favor of outlying rim shots and slippery hi-hats. Resounding bass synth evolves the rhythm before finally dissolving into an enigmatic FM synth pad awash with disregard. "Abandon" was originally featured as a new work on a collection of self-released singles.

Offered exclusively to GIVE/TAKE mailing list Members, KPT's Tramp is FREE, but not available on streaming.

"A hailstorm of deconstructed techno and extreme sound - framed in a distorted and ferocious dancefloor aesthetic. A transcendental journey through noise that is strangely meditative." - Musique Machine

"A bruising, beautiful, and disorienting journey—equal parts catharsis and confrontation. For those willing to dive deep, this is one of the most essential experimental electronic releases of the year." - Jace Media Music

"If you’ve ever had any passing interests in Coil or Lustmord, then this – wonderfully ugly as it can be – will be for you." - Real Gone

Claw begins uneasy, as atmospheric sound design builds with increasing tension. Swells of warm dread are interrupted by cutting guitar while slight rhythms evolve with hints of pads and barely-audible percussive elements. Soon, the arrangement contorts into a bad trip of screeching synths, deconstructed techno, and full-on blast beats.

While fans of KPT will recognize a few of his signature motifs scattered throughout, Claw demonstrates the artist's continued turn toward analog and organic workflows as he employs more live instrumentation throughout. Like much of KPT's best material — as well as the cinematic oeuvre that inspires it — Claw rewards patience and repeated visits.

Minneapolis-based KPT initially performed Claw during a live set in 2023, and honed the sounds in between work on his forthcoming diptych Never, Forever; Nothing, Completely as well as remixes for artists such as En Esch and Mona Mur.

Own, stream, and share Claw now on both CD and digital.
